PERAK is the first state to organise a roadshow to encourage youngsters to sign up as volunteers for the BN Squad aimed at helping the coalition in the general election.

The roadshow, known as the BN and NGO Carnival, will be held at Dewan Orang Ramai Koperasi Perumahan Melayu Perak and the Rapat Setia soccer field here tomorrow and on Sunday.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi will officiate the event.
It will then move to Telok Kemang, Negri Sembilan (March 22-24), Kuala Perlis (March 30-31), Kuala Terengganu (April 13-14), Johor (May 4-5) and Pahang (June 1-2).
BN Squad organising chairman Datuk Mat Isa Ismail said: “We hope to register some 10,000 youths from Perak for the squad”.
So far 1,000 youth volunteers had registered nationwide after the launch.
The organisers, who are former Umno youth division leaders, with the cooperation of Persatuan Warga Kuala Lumpur/Selangor, Gopeng Barisan Nasional Youth election machinery, Ipoh City Council and several Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have lined up various programmes during the roadshow.
Mat Isa said it is an initiative by BN to engage the youths and get closer to them and also dispel negative assumption that the younger generation are not supportive of the ruling coalition.
